It is almost summer in Toronto.
I have started to get more organized. This is the progress to date: Jan 2016 - Delivered prototype March 2016 - Delivered 2nd prototype May 2016 - I've decided to pull back from my kickstarter bee-line and move to a product based approach and THEN run a crowd fund campaign. The idea being that in crowdfunding, those early stage product 'hopes" are usually late in delivering the actual fully completed product due to industrial design issues. So I've opted to produce the Version 1 'Alpha' product and when I run the campaign I'll endeavour to deliver the product within 3-4 months. So I've received some money and have been investing in product development. The industrial designers have been hired. The way my mind works is that I need to reduce risk, There are two risks right now with prod dev: 1. Risk that it may not be delivered on time 2. Risk that it may not be a cost effective solution and the cost of producing one mod garden (in full production mode) may come in higher than expected, and that it may not totally suit my needs. My mitigation plan is to hire another ID and have him do another design. The 2nd designer is interesting as his approach is very different from the first firm I've hired. This will be very pricey in the short term. but in the long run this cost will be minimal. |
